Upper Etowah River Alliance

Alliance Sponsors Adopt-A-Stream Program

The Alliance sponsors an Adopt-A-Stream program open to all citizens in the upper Etowah watershed. Adopt-A-Stream is a program coordinated by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division which trains participants to become knowledgeable stewards of the water resources in their watershed. Volunteers are trained in many of the following skills:

  • Delineating their watershed.
  • Knowing the threats that can degrade water resources.
  • Chemical monitoring of a stream or other water body.
  • Biological monitoring of waters.

There is no charge to participate.

The Alliance is looking for some new instructors for Adopt A Stream workshops. Once trained, you would only have to put on 2-4 one-day workshops a year. This is a great way to get involved in watershed protection and help our precious streams and rivers! If you are interested in becoming an instructor, please call Robin Dake at 706-779-5756.
