Non-Discrimination Statement
The Upper Etowah River Alliance (UERA) believes clean water and healthy rivers belong to everyone. We welcome people of all backgrounds to learn about, enjoy, and help protect the Upper Etowah River and its watershed.
Our commitment
UERA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, veteran or military status, marital or family status, genetic information, income, or any other characteristic protected by law.
This commitment applies to everything we do, including:
- Our education programs, events, cleanups, and paddle trips
- Volunteer opportunities and water monitoring
- Membership and donor relations
- Partnerships with businesses, schools, and community organizations
- Hiring, employment, and the selection of board members and committee volunteers
- Scholarships and awards, including the Mary Sorensen Environmental Love Scholarship
A welcoming outdoors
We work to make our programs welcoming and open to everyone, and to reach communities across all five counties of the Upper Etowah watershed. We expect our staff, board, volunteers, and participants to treat one another with respect. Harassment or discriminatory behavior at our events or in our programs will not be tolerated.
Accommodations
If you need an accommodation to take part in a UERA program or event — such as accessible parking, an interpreter, materials in another format, or help choosing an activity that fits your needs — please contact us in advance, and we’ll do our best to help. Learn more about our website’s accessibility in our Accessibility Statement.
Questions or concerns
If you believe you’ve been treated unfairly or have experienced discrimination or harassment in any UERA program, please let us know. You can contact our Executive Director or any member of our Board of Directors, or reach us using the information below. We take every concern seriously and will respond promptly and confidentially.
UERA does not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith or takes part in looking into one.
[If UERA receives federal financial assistance (for example, EPA grants passed through Georgia EPD): You may also file a complaint with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s External Civil Rights Compliance Office.]
