Privacy Policy

The Upper Etowah River Alliance (“UERA,” “we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through etowahriver.org, how we use it, and the choices you have. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and we never sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you contact us, sign up to volunteer, report a problem, become a member, donate, or register for an event, we collect the information you provide. This may include your name, email address, phone number, mailing address or ZIP code, your message, volunteer interests, and — when you report a problem — the location and any photos or videos you upload.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our web host keeps standard server logs, which include your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. [If you use Google Analytics: We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site, such as which pages are most popular. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information like your approximate location and device type. It does not tell us who you are.]

Donations and memberships

Online donations and memberships are processed securely by Givebutter. Your payment information goes directly to Givebutter and its payment processors; UERA never sees or stores your full card number. Givebutter shares your name, contact information, and gift details with us so we can thank you and send your tax receipt. See Givebutter’s privacy policy.

We treat donor information as confidential. We may list donors by name in our newsletter or annual repoe anonymously, tell us and we’ll honor that.

How we share information

We share personal information only:

  • With service providers who help us run our website and programs — such as our web host (DreamHost), Givebutter, and our email provider — and only as needed to provide those services
  • With government agencies, such as Georgia EPD or your county, when you report a pollution or erosion problem and sharing your report helps resolve it. We’ll share the details of the problem; ask us if you’d like your contact information kept private
  • When required by law, or to protect the safety of our volunteers or the public
