Website Disclaimer and Terms of Use

Welcome to etowahriver.org, the website of the Upper Etowah River Alliance (“UERA,” “we,” “us”), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. By using this website, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

Information on this website

We share information about the Upper Etowah River, its watershed, water quality, wildlife, and how to protect them. We work to keep it accurate and up to date, but we can’t guarantee that everything on the site is complete, current, or error-free.

The information on this website is for general education only. It is not legal, engineering, medical, or other professional advice, and it is not an official government notice. Water-quality data and guidance on our site may not reflect current conditions. Before swimming, fishing, or drinking water from any stream or lake, check current advisories from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division and your local authorities.

Emergencies and reporting problems

Our website is not monitored around the clock. In an emergency, call 911. To report a chemical spill, sewage spill, or fish kill, call the Georgia EPD 24-hour spill line at (800) 241-4113. Reports sent through our Report a Problem form are reviewed by our staff and volunteers during normal hours and don’t replace a report to the responsible agency.

Volunteering, events, and outdoor activities

Cleanups, water monitoring, paddle trips, and other outdoor activities involve natural hazards, including moving water, slippery and uneven ground, weather, wildlife, and debris. You take part at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety and the safety of any minors in your care. Participants may be asked to sign a separate release or waiver before an event. Event details, dates, and locations can change; check the event page or contact us before you go.

Information and photos you send us

When you send us a message, a problem report, photos, videos, or other material, you confirm that you have the right to share it. You give UERA permission to use it to respond to you, follow up on reported problems (including sharing it with the responsible agency), and support our mission. We won’t publish your photos or personal information on our website or social media without your permission. How we handle personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.

Donations and memberships

Online donations and memberships are processed by Givebutter and are subject to Givebutter’s terms. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law; you’ll receive a receipt for your records. If you believe a gift was made in error, contact us within 30 days and we’ll work with you to resolve it.

Links to other websites

Our website links to government agencies, partner organizations, and other sites we think you’ll find useful. We don’t control those websites and aren’t responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices. A link doesn’t mean we endorse the site or its owners.
